Project Description
I am the adult advisor to a group of high school students who over the school year restore the trails in Van Cortlandt Park, plant a few hundred trees, identify native and not native plants and some of their uses in the park, learn about and create compost, grow vegetables and plant a butterfly garden, and learn about some of the animals and why they are important to the food chains in the park.

volunteer oportunites in the bronx

the Friends of Van Cortlandt Park are having volunteer days this fall to restore sections of the forest within Van Cortlandt Park, all days are posted on our website www.vancortlandt.org. Anyone interested in comming or bringing a group should contact me at sara@vancortlandt.org to register. If any TPE groups would like to come more than once or set up volunteer days just for your group I would love to work with you simply let me know what you need and I will do my best.

middle school program in the bronx

if you are a middle school student in the bronx or work with middle school students the Friends of Van Cortlandt Park are hosting a junior naturalists program tuesdays and thursdays after school starting next week. we will be learning about van cortlandt park and applying what we learn to restoring a section of the forest. visit www.vancortlandt.org for the registration form.
