Renovating an old Homesite

My group renovated the foundation of an old homesite in Cedar Falls Park, Chapel Hill.  We dug out a pile of glass, rocks, and briars and turned a real eyesore into a historic site along a hiking trail.  We found 10  one hundred year old glass marbles that kids used to play with who lived in the house, an old toy airplane, and…See More

CEDAR FALLS IS ROCKING IN CHAPEL HILL

Thanks to a bunch of boyscouts and other teen volunteers, Cedar Falls Park has its hiking trails marked appropriately. We pulled out 26 old posts and remarked the trails with Rhino marking system.  It looks great.  You can drive a Mack Truck over the sign posts, and they still stand straight and mighty.  The posts were pulled out using a lever system and physics  - an 8 foot post as a lever, 3 small cinder blocks as a fulcrum and a board to catch the lip of the post.  These posts had been in…See More

Project Description
We mapped out hiking trails, designed an guide and interest points for a Nature Trail, designed an entrance sign to the park, and renovated a historical old homesite foundation in the park.

Parker's Patrol Publicizing Product

The Patrol finished Cedar Falls Park and the Homesite and gave a talk to the ladies of theLake Forest Garden Club.  Unfortunately it rained during the presentation.
